My clients are often:
Tired of doing the same thing again and again, not finding the result they desire
Searching for a safe place to feel heard and supported through life’s challenges
Facing problematic coping mechanisms (substance use, self harm, addictive behaviour, emotional disregulation) either in themselves, their family members or others close to them
Seeking guidance on how to have tough conversations with family members (either partners, children or extended family)
Experiencing anxiety and/or depression that results in missing out on the life they wish to lead
Grieving the loss of a loved one, and/or facing challenges in how to move through a new phase in life
what clients get from me:
A caring, compassionate and empathetic listening ear
Sessions tailored to meet the goals established by the client
A punctual, organized and respectfully managed session
Gentle questioning and the use of theory to help meet their goals
Impartial and non-judgmental approach.
JESSICA’s essential beliefs
I believe we are all a part of a system and that we can work individually or with any aspect of that system to create change.
I believe that clients are experts in their own lives and that the decision to come to therapy is a brave and honourable choice they make for themselves and the system they belong to.
Theories and models that inform my work include:
I primarily use Narrative and Solution Focused therapies to help clients tell their stories and then find solutions within.
I use the addition of a variety of theories and interventions (Attachment, Art and Play, Internal Family Systems and Cognitive Behavioural therapy) when well-suited to my clients.
