My clients are often:

  • Ready to try something other than plain “talk therapy”

  • Feeling silenced, frozen, or stuck due to childhood trauma

  • Needing a safe place to express and be seen

  • Triggered in the present with emotions from the past

  • Struggling with dissociation or feeling disconnected from themselves

what clients get from me:

  • A calming presence

  • A safe place to process

  • A chance to be witnessed, seen, and heard

  • Non-threatening, creative ways to work through trauma

sharon’s essential beliefs

Trauma is often stored in the body non-verbally, so one might find it helpful to release or process it in creative ways

Coping behaviours and dysfunctional roles made sense in the context and system in which they developed

When there is the safety to do so, healing the pain and the underlying wound is preferable to merely managing symptoms

It is healing to feel one is not alone and have their trauma witnessed even through art or metaphor

Theories and models that inform my work include:

  • Internal Family Systems model

  • Art therapy

  • Play therapy

  • Attachment Theory
